Raleigh hasn't had a lot of practice in the dating department over the last several years and he's more than a little rusty but he thinks there's no way that he could go wrong with a trip to Disneyland. It's the happiest place on earth, right? He thinks that he and Buffy can have a good time being kids and eventually come back to the hotel when they're sick of carnival rides and bad food.
So when he shows up at her door, he's dressed casually and there is absolutely no stopping the grin on his face; he thinks that possibly he's going to get smacked for being too cheerful but it's a risk he's definitely willing to take. He knocks quickly and calls out for her, eager to go.
"Hey, Buffy? Are you ready for the most exciting date this side of Godzilla wrangling?" He's nothing if not in possession of a fine sense of humor.

Buffy grins at that. "I think we've got a lot in common." Which is nice. There aren't many people back home that she shares those things in common with, at least no one that doesn't want her dead. "I mean, that's kind of my motto and if the bending the rules thing works the way you want it to, you don't usually even have to ask forgiveness."
At least that's her experience. Once they're let through the gate, Buffy makes her way to one of the empty tea cups and sits down, hands going to the steering wheel thing.

"Now, how fast are we going to get this thing spinning?" Raleigh's like a kid when it comes to this stuff and everything about him says that he's going to have it going just as fast as humanly possible if he can help it.
no subject
That grin on Buffy's face? It's pretty wicked. "Oh, just how fast do you think you can handle, Robot Boy?" she asks him teasingly. Because one of them isn't human here and she can kind of lift a car and move faster than a human so....how does faster than inhumanly possible sound?

"Show me what you've got, Blondie, and I'll see what I can give you back."
no subject
Nope, no guilt having here. There's nothing to feel guilty about, because they are just having fun and it's something that neither of them have done in a while so it's sorely needed. She laughs at the challenge.
"Deal." She's betting he can give back just about as good as he gets, human or otherwise.

"I'm going to regret this, aren't I?"
Raleigh thinks it might still be worth it even if he gets sick because he hasn't cut loose like this in so long that he can't even remember.

"Nah, making you hurl would end the date and I like this date," she smiles at him brightly. Yeah, she just said she liked him in a round about way.
"However, getting you close to hurling will just mean we have soda and go shopping until you're ready to try another ride on the Buffy train." Her eyes go wide as she realizes a moment later what she said. "I mean...a ride Buffy--a ride with Buff--You know, with me. A ride. Not a ride. Do you think they make tea cups that eat you? Alice in Wonderland style. I'm just gonna--" she points to the steering wheel and starts spinning it with a good deal of enthusiasm.
no subject
Raleigh laughs. "You get one. Next time, though, I've got to call you on it." He doubts that he will. In Buffy's words, he likes this date and he's not really interested in ending it over a little foot in mouth. He's pretty bad about doing that himself.
no subject
She laughs at that. "Just one, huh? I'm glad you're keeping score," she tells him, a smile still on her face.
She spins the wheel hard, the tea cup immediately picking up speed as she does. They're probably, already, going a little faster than the other teacups.
no subject
Oh yeah, they're definitely going faster than everyone else and there's a little weird feeling in the pit of Raleigh's stomach that's either nausea (because, really, it's a lot of spinning) or it's nerves because he's with a girl he likes and he hasn't been able to do much of that since before Yancy passed.
"We're not going to be able to walk straight afterwards," he says, laughing as the teacup spins around and around.
no subject
"We'll have to lean on each other," she giggles, head thrown back as she lets go of the wheel and just lets it spin. Without the wheel to anchor her, centrifugal force shoves her around toward Raleigh. She squeals and grabs the wheel again just before she slams into him.
no subject
Raleigh slides his arm around her when she slams into him, just taking the opportunity to be close for a moment while it isn't awkward. God, he hopes it never gets awkward because Buffy is fun and understands weird while embracing normal. He needs that.
"Shit, we're going to end up walking in circles when we get out of here."
no subject
Well, if he's going to do that, she'll just let go of the wheel and let herself lean against him. There's a grin on her face and a blush in her cheeks as she does lean against him. The tea cup is still spinning fast, but it is losing a bit of speed as it's no longer being Buffy-powered.
"I like circles. Circles are good, though sitting down in a place that doesn't spin after this might also be good."
She's got her fingers cross that it doesn't get awkward either. Raleigh makes the butterflies in her belly go crazy so that she feels like she's tingling all over in the best of ways.
no subject
"Circles are perfect," Raleigh says, well aware that it's stupid and just not caring. Not when he has his arm around someone beautiful and fun like Buffy.
"But possibly not the best when followed up with food, am I right?"
no subject
The teacups eventually slow down, coming to a full stop. Buffy arches an eyebrow up at him. "Ready to attempt this walking thing?"
no subject
"After you," he says gallantly, thinking that he's probably not going to be all that steady on his feet. This is probably the most disorienting thing he's done in forever and he's not entirely sure he isn't going to tip over into a bush somewhere.
no subject
Oh Buffy suspects there's more than gallantry to his offer, but it makes her smile. She gets up a bit gingerly, taking a careful step onto the base of the ride, then turning to look at Raleigh, offering her hand out to help him. She'll lean on him once he gets up and steady. Part of it's because she is a bit unsteady on her feet, but part of it is for the simple pleasure of leaning on him.
no subject
Raleigh slides his arms around her as he starts to walk off, keeping his steps careful so he doesn't go careening into anything. "So, I'm guessing food is out but you think a nice, slow walk is in order?"
no subject
"Thank you. In case I forget to tell you later, this has been the best day."
no subject
"I'm pretty sure it's the best day for me too," Raleigh says softly. It's been a long time since he's been free of anxiety and stress and worry and something about being somewhere so carefree with someone so beautiful and kind has taken a burden off his shoulders.
"Come on, I need to go win you some prizes or something and show my manly prowess."
no subject
That gets a laugh as she winds her arm around his waist and leans into him. "I'll appropriately appreciate said manly prowess, and the prizes will earn honored places on my bed."
